Verizon LG G2 Android 4.4 KitKat update release date details are still a mystery leaving us with just two choices. First, be at the mercy of LG and keep waiting for the official OTA update to hit our devices sometime in 2014, or we can do something about it right now. Thanks to the Gummy ROM, Verizon LG G2 can now be updated to almost-stock Android 4.4 KitKat.
The team behind Gummy ROM created the ROM for speed, stability, and to stay as close to stock AOSP as possible, the team also wanted it to be available for a wide range of devices.
The Gummy ROM is now available for the LG G2, and with that owners of the device who prefer a closer to stock Android experience can install this ROM. Even if the ROM isn’t pure Android, the UI is completely stock, as the Gummy ROM only adds a few tweaks and some new features to the experience. These features feel like a good addition to stock the Android experience, they don’t feel forced or slow down the phone at all (unlike those added by some OEMs). These features include status bar mods, theme manager, lock screen mod, performance control, an option to change the carrier label, background style, a hardware key mod, application permission controls, and lock clock widget.
Now, a quick guide on how to flash the Gummy ROM, make sure to follow every step correctly as AndroidOrigin doesn’t take any responsibility if any damage is done to your device.
First make sure to follow and understand these pre-requirements:
- This guide is intended only for the Verizon LG G2, DO NOT attempt to flash on any other device.
- Create a backup of your data.
- Make sure your device has at least 80% battery charge.
- DO NOT USE TWRP. THIS PROCESS ONLY WORKS WITH THE LATEST CLOCKWORK MOD.
- The phone’s warranty will be void, if you want to keep your warranty do not continue with this guide.
And now on to the flashing:
Download the Gummy ROM from here.
Download Gapps from here.
Move both files to SD card.
Reboot your device to Recovery.
Wipe Data and Chache.
Install ROM by selecting the file from the SDcard.
Install Google Apps (Gapps) by selecting the file from the SDcard.
Reboot System (this might take up to 5 minutes).
Congratulations, you successfully installed the Gummy ROM on your Verizon LG G2! Have fun with this ROM, which is currently one of the smoothest and closest to stock Android 4.4 KitKat ROMs out there.
