Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the international models(GT-I9300) has been one of the most controversial updates till date. Samsung Poland has officially confirmed that thanks to the “low” 1GB RAM which the device possesses, it is never going to get updated to KitKat. However, in a Facebook post on its official page, Samsung Arabia has now officially confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 will be getting updated to KitKat before the end of this month.
When a curious Samsung Galaxy S3 owner named Ashif Poochengal posted an enquiry on Samsung Mobile Arabia’s official page that whether the Samsung Galaxy S3 is going to get Android 4.4 KitKat in UAE or not, these folks replied and hence confirmed that a KitKat update will be made available “by the end of this month”.
We know that this isn’t exactly a press release, but amidst rumours of the Galaxy S3 not getting KitKat because of the insufficient 1GB of RAM, this official confirmation is more than enough to rekindle hopes among millions of S3 users around the globe. After all, the possibility of this KitKat update being specific only to those users who are specific to UAE is quite thin.
As for the US LTE version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9305), Samsung America recently released a list of 16 devices which are going to get KitKat update eventually. Luckily, the US variant of the Samsung Galaxy S3 was also present in this list and even though no release date or time frames were provided as to when the rollout will happen, but GT-I9305 owners can rest assured that their device will get updated to latest Android sooner or later.
