In the 18 minute video, a presenter covers a huge amount of ground with first the Note 3 and then the Gear. She goes through the design and hardware, and sometimes painstakingly covers all of the software features as well, so if you wanted a thorough overview of both, this is the video for you.
For people who want to find out more about the Gear, you’re going to want to skip to over half way through. From there, you’re shown how to pair the Gear, customize it by rearranging apps and how the smartwatch handles things like messages, calls and so on. There’s also a demo of the watch’s camera, which is an odd feature but you could see how it might be potentially useful on occasion.
Whilst an interesting video, I did notice some not-very-subtle lag on the Gear’s interface a few times, which is not appealing. Obviously this is a first-gen device and probably a little rough around the edges, but still, the lag was surprising.
On the other hand, the Note 3 looks like one heck of a device, and I’m excited about getting my hands on one.
What do you make of the video? Is the Galaxy Gear something you’d buy, or has Samsung missed the spot with this one? I’m curious to hear what you readers think, so let us know in the comments.
