If you are on the Boost Mobile network and you own a 2013 Motorola Moto G, then you can expect to receive an OTA update with Android 4.4.4 KitKat very soon. Depending on how many updates Boost Mobile has to send out, this can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.
Moto G Android 4.4.4 KitKat update changelog
Motorola has recently published the changelog on their website for the Boost Mobile Moto G. This should bring your device up to version number 210.12.57 and should be a relatively small update. The update includes all of the typical bug fixes and security patches included in the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update. Motorola has also included some additional features and changes. They’ve added a pause and resume button to the stock camera application while recording video. They’ve also updated the Phone dialer with a new graphical layout as well as improved colors that add to its consistency and usability.
Lastly, Motorola has enabled your Boost Mobile 2013 Moto G with the ability to download the Motorola Alert application from the Google Play Store. We’ve covered this Motorola Alert application in the past. It will basically let you send custom contacts a message if you ever push the panic button. This should be a quick update, but they still recommend that you charge your Moto G up to at least 50% before you start downloading and installing the update.
The update should go smoothly. Although, we have to remind you that the HTC One M8 on the AT&T network has reportedly been having some issues with the latest Android update. These are different companies and different carriers, but it shows you that any minor update can cause some major issues with your device. It’s recommended that you monitor your device after you perform the update to make sure everything is running smoothly.
