There’s been an awful lot of chatter recently surrounding Google’s Chromecast HDMI stick – a device that can be plugged into your TV and allows you to push video from both Android and iOS devices to that particular display with ease. Thanks to a new Chrome plugin, you can even share your Chrome tabs from your PC or Mac with your TV.
Setting up the Chromecast itself involves plugging the device into your TV, plugging in the power cable and connecting it to WiFi. That’s it. There’s no setup needed on your mobile devices – many of the apps you know and love already have Google Cast functionality built-in. Currently supported apps include Netflix, YouTube, HBO GO, Hulu Plus, Pandora, Google Play Movies & TV, Google Play Music, and there’s a whole host of new ones being added in the near future before the release of the Chromecast SDK.
Normally the device is super affordable anyway, priced at $35, but if you need any extra incentives, Best Buy are currently offering the Chromecast for $29.99 – saving you five bucks in the process.
As an added bonus, Best Buy will also throw in free shipping with the Chromecast, reaching your door by Christmas eve, making it an excellent stocking filler for those gadget lovers in your family who you haven’t finished shopping for yet.
Unfortunately, the deal means Google Play’s credit offer won’t apply, but who can argue with saving a few dollars?
If you’re interested, head over to Best Buy to grab the awesome little dongle, which is set to see huge growth early next year.
If you manage to grab one, let us know how you get on with it.
